Business Consultant

The Business Consultant will participate in large, or lead small, product implementations of our market-leading learning management and performance management system products. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert in subject areas, including business process re-engineering, end user adoption, etc. The Business Consultant will work with our client’s Business teams to gather requirements and help define specifications for implementing learning technology products. This includes configuration and implementation tasks, as well as system and customer acceptance testing of configured solutions. Additional consulting responsibilities include problem identification, business process definition, implementation, testing, client training, and deployment support. The Business Consultant works on project task deliverables daily with customer project teams and end-user staff. S/he is involved with problems of diverse scope where Business analysis and evaluation is required. S/he must exhibit solid judgment while using generally defined practices and policies for implementing learning technology products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development of consulting proposals
  • Participate in the development of methodologies, approaches, and models
  • Responsible for project plans, task deliverables, with high levels of quality and customer satisfaction. Presents deliverables to customer project manager/team members
  • Deliver tasks to, or under, timeline and budget requirements
  • Facilitates or participates in customer satisfaction and project post-mortem audits
  • Install learning technology products (either within Client’s environment or as a hosted deployment)
  • Analyze and make appropriate recommendations on business design tasks (for example, integration with external applications)
  • Contribute to practice knowledge base
  • Develop personal and team task plans for project business work
  • Support Client’s business team in knowledge transfer activities

Business Skills

  • Experience with enterprise application software (configuration, installation, etc.)
  • Understanding of technical architecture, including client server, J2EE a plus
  • Systems administration experience (e.g., domains, business rules, notification concepts, reporting)
  • Experience with content integration
  • Windows O/S skills

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ in the consulting required
  • Bachelor’s in business, computer science or related discipline required.
  • Exposure to learning and / or performance management applications and related business processes
  • Prior exposure to LMS applications desirable
  • Knowledge of internet and web-related technologies and protocols
  • Knowledge of business processes and human resource components

Technical Consultant – Application Development / System Integration

The Technical Consultant is responsible for custom application development, systems integration and solution deployment specified by clients during professional services engagements. The consultant will design, code, integrate, test and maintain basic to highly complex e-Learning solutions for client needs using appropriate web technologies. 

The Technical Consultant will work with the Senior Technical Consultant as part of a project team comprised of Implementation Consultants, Managing Consultants and rapidLD clients on onsite and offsite projects. The consultant will be responsible for working on concurrent projects for multiple customers. 

The candidate must be skilled in web technologies on both Microsoft and Java platforms and must be a quick and independent problem solver. Technical skills are required with expertise in the areas listed in the qualifications section below.

The position reports directly to a Managing Consultant in the practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, integrate, configure and customize e-Learning solutions of varying size and audience
  • Design and develop data import/data migration solutions in SQL Server/ORACLE environments
  • Develop custom reports and other LMS enhancements
  • Contribute to all phases of projects by providing technical expertise, developing technical specifications, and documenting project deliverables as part of the project team
  • Work within the delivery phases of a client deployment schedule which includes leading client-site deployments
  • Ensure that tasks are completed and documented according to product and client specifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant technical discipline is required
  • Extensive knowledge of working with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Analysis Server, and developing ETL scripts in a SQL Server environment
  • Extensive knowledge of working with Crystal reports
  • Extensive knowledge of integrating products in JBoss/Tomcat and WebLogic environments
  • Extensive knowledge of Java, Servlet, JavaScript and HTML programming
  • Working knowledge and experience installing and configuring related technologies: RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server), web servers (IIS, iPlanet and Apache), middleware and application servers (JRun, Weblogic, JBoss/Tomcat), Operating Systems (NT/2000/.NET, Solaris, Linux)
  • Working knowledge of using configuration management tools such as Microsoft Visual Source Safe (VSS), CVS, and / or Rational Clearcase.
  • Experience with technical customizations of eLearning application packages including content, learning management systems (LMS), or learning content management systems (LCMS).
  • Project development experience, specifically dealing with the integration of enterprise-level applications, ideally involving extensive web interaction.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a consulting or client management environment
  • Mastery of PC desktop applications
